Ai-Cheng Ho spoke about the Taijiquan practice in the actors training.
She explained how the Tai Chi practice can be valuable as an ecological technique for the actors training what she defined as an ecology of emotions.
Ai-Cheng Ho mentioned that actors should know how to communicate to themselves and to the surroundings, learn how to connect their bodies as instruments to capture the audience, without any intellectual interference so this is what it can be called as the ecology of emotions.
According to her, a good circulation of emotions must between the actor and spectators an in this sense, she believes the practice of Tai Chi is a technique to enhance the circulation of the ecology of emotions in the time and space inspired by the unity of men with nature and the universe.
The Tai Chi practices help the human body connection with the universe spirit, transcending the physical limits and reaching the spiritual reality to find the harmony between oneself and outwards.
The Chinese seaks to associate spirit or consciousness and heaven, making the energy flow, this energy circulates in the human body, flowing to create a new energy balance connected since the actor’s foot with the earth and heaven. In this sense, it was explained that the actors’ bodies would receive the heavens and the earth and manifest them within themselves in the performances.
So, the Tai Chi aims to connect the bodies in a vertical energetic structure with the cosmos energy, where this energy comes out and come in, generating and regenerating this great energy linked to the universe, bringing the most profound emotions to the actor’s performance.
Finally, Ai-Cheng Ho proposed that actors try to apply this technique into their work in order to create a code of emotional coloring and in this way they can develop their imagination and also explore the possibilities of corporal expressivity.
